Mayor Lisa Helps said she wants to make sure Victoria's work on alternative models works together with VicPD's work. Here's an email I got through an FOI of Chief Manak going after the idea that anyone other than police — including social workers — would ever be able to deescalate if someone has a weapon. They can, and do.
